Chris Salih - 04-Mar-2008

Aberdeen Asset Management has appointed James Laing as it new head of pan-European equities following the departure of current head Chou Chong.
Chong is leaving after a five year stint in the UK and will be returning to Singapore to work on the Aberdeen Asia Pacific regional equities team, which is run by head of equities Hugh Young and head of Asian equities Peter James.

Laing will also report to Young, while heading up the 20-strong Pan-European desk. He joined Aberdeen back in 2000 and has a total of 12 years investment experience.

Meanwhile, Aberdeen has also confirmed the departures of three of the four managers from recently acquired Glasgow Investment Managers.

Iain Lynn, Martin Brown and Craig Yeaman have all left the firm only six months after its purchase back in September 2007.
